The new year 2022 has come, which means that a new page in the history of the Yezidi people has been opened for other peoples, as well as for the Yezidis. What did you remember about last year? Let's recall the most important events of the past year.

In January 2021, the US Consul General in Erbil, Rob Waller, visited the Yazidi refugee camp in Essiana. The consul assured the refugees that the United States will continue to aid with their return to their homes.

In January, at a meeting with Nadia Murad, US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said that the outgoing White House administration had aided the Yazidis and other minorities of Iraq for $ 480 million.

In March, Pope Francis visited Baghdad. In his speech, he called for an end to extremism and violence, mentioning the Yezidi people separately.

In May, Nadia Murad addressed the UN Security Council, calling on UN member states to fulfill their promises and take real action to bring ISIS terrorists to justice.

In the same month, Special Adviser Karim Khan, who heads the UN Investigation Team to bring to Justice for crimes committed by ISIS, informed the UN Security Council about the facts testifying to the genocide of the Yezidis in Shangal.

In the area of Shangal, the temple of "Meleka Sheikh Hassan" was restored, which was destroyed by ISIS terrorists in 2014.

In June, a great tragedy happened – the camp of Yazidi refugees’ "Sharia", located in Dohuk province, burned down.

In July, the Belgian parliament recognized the genocide of the Yezidis. The Yezidi activist Mirza Dinayi played a big role in this. In the same month, the genocide of the Yezidis was recognized by the Dutch Parliament.

In August, terrorist groups attacked Shangal, resulting in the death of a Yazidi commander fighting against terrorists. A few days later, a medical facility in Shangal was attacked. 9 people were killed.

On August twenty-eighth, at a press conference in Baghdad within the framework of the regional summit, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his support for the Yezidis, his words are backed up by real help.

In September, the first football championship of the Yezidi teams of Russia took place. This championship is an unprecedented event for the Yazidi people in terms of organization and unity.

Since August, the situation on the problem of Yezidi refugees on the border between Poland and Belarus has begun. The refugees were trapped because of the political game of States.

In October, the candidate of the Yazidi Progress Party, Naif Khalaf Seydou, won the early elections to the Iraqi parliament.

In October and December, the staff of the Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis participated in the UN Forum on the protection of the rights of national minorities and conflict prevention.

In December, a Frankfurt (Germany) court sentenced terrorist Taha al-Jumai to life imprisonment for numerous crimes, including the murder of a Yazidi girl.

In addition to all the important events mentioned above, I would like to note that several Yazidi organizations have been active throughout the year. Among them are the Nadia Initiative Foundation, the Yazda organization, the House of Yezidis of Georgia, the Tula regional branch of the Yezidi Congress LLC, our organization the Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis . You can also praise the Yezidi athletes; among them the most striking victories were brought by boxer Mikhail Aloyan and world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Malkhas Amoyan.

Thus, if we analyze the chronology of the events of 2021, we can understand that the Yazidis of Iraq and some Yazidi activists in Europe are the most active and productive in their activities. The Yezidis of the post-Soviet space, after the death of the Yezidi public figure Mirza Sloyan, who tried in every possible way to strengthen the unity of the people, are again divided. Therefore, in 2022 I would like to see and hear the Yezidis of Russia, Armenia, Georgia, and Belarus.

Editorial office of the Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis with the support of the website Yazidis.info I am always ready to objectively cover any reliable information concerning the Yezidi people. Therefore, we are waiting for interesting events, bright heroes, true patriots, creative people, the activity of Yazidi organizations, and most importantly - the unity of our people, confirmed by the holding of international conferences, round tables, festivals, and other important events.

I would like the Yezidi media and public figures not to turn a blind eye to the problems of our youth in the New Coming Year, but to talk and solve them. Let's hope that this year will be a year of radical changes for the Yezidis and the solution of the problems of the Yezidi people.
