The Yezidi holy temple of Lalesh has joined a nationwide campaign to raise funds and help families who suffered from flooding in Erbil province on December 17.
The head of the Social and Cultural Center Lalesh Sheikh Shamo said that the temple administration has allocated 10 million Iraqi dinars (about $ 7000) for the delivery of assistance to families through the local government in Dahuk.
"For Lalesh, providing assistance to flood-affected people in Erbil is a humanitarian, national and moral responsibility," Shamo said.
Earlier, the governor of Dahuk said that his office had organized a campaign to raise funds and donations for essential services to the victims.
According to the latest data, 12 people died as a result of the flood, including one Turkish citizen and two Nepalese citizens.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani visited the families of the victims in the affected areas and promised all necessary support. Later, he thanked people for their steadfastness and wrote to the social network : "We'll get through this together."
