On December 17, Yezidis around the world celebrated Aida Ezid.
Employees of the Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis on Friday visited the Ziaryat Ezid (Quba Siltan Êzîd) in Tbilisi, where the clergy celebrated the holiday of Aida Ezid, the clergy conducted a religious ritual, after which they blessed and congratulated both all the guests of the Temple and all the Yezidis of the world. After the religious rituals, the organizers presented the Yazidi calendars of the upcoming year with sweet presents to the audience.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Yezidi clergy from the USA and Armenia arrived in Georgia for the holiday of Aida Ezid.
The event on the celebration of Aida Ezid was covered by the state channel of Georgia "TV Pirveli" (Channel one).
What is the celebration of Aida Ezid?
Aida Ezid is a celebration of the creation of the world, which is celebrated by the Yezidis in winter, in the second half of December, on the second or third Friday of the month. According to Yazidi mythology, it was on the first day of the week that the Earth was created. The teaching of Yezidism says that God created the world with the help of seven angels. At the head of these angels, after God, are Malake Taus (Peacock Angel) and the Sun. These three forces, with the help of angels, began the creation of the World on Saturday and completed it on Sunday. On Monday, the Earth received water and air. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Yezidis hold a fast in honor of God who created the World. On this holiday, all relatives who have quarreled should reconcile. This holiday embodies the unity of the spirit of our people.
