The migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border continues and covers Lithuania. Some Yazidi migrants managed to come to Lithuania, but here the police quickly find them and send them to refugee camps.
Recently, the authorities decided to send refugees to the Kibartai prison for the winter. This prison, where migrants are kept, resembles an abandoned building. Prisoners in it are kept in unsanitary conditions. Many people suffer from insect bites, scabies. There are 700 people in one building, and there are several such buildings. It is known that 70 Yezidis are kept in one of the buildings.
"In another prison, in front of other prisoners, the guards blindfolded and handcuffed three prisoners. There are a lot of women and children there, the guards wanted to force them to sign a paper saying they wanted to return to Iraq. Some were taken from prison, and no one knew where they were taken. In this way, the guards wanted to scare other prisoners," said one of the refugees there.
According to the man, people were afraid and crying, their phones were taken away from everyone. The men were separated from their family members and transferred to another prison, thus trying to force the prisoners to sign papers on voluntary deportation to Iraq, which many women did. When the families of the men who were taken away found out where they were and that they were safe, it was already too late, the deportation documents had already been signed.
It should be noted that the Lithuanian authorities declare that they can grant political asylum to only three percent of migrants.
