A German court has issued a final decision on the case of mass killings in Syria.
Representatives of the ISIS terrorist group, who have been exterminating the Yezidi population in Shangala and the Nineveh valleys since 2014, crossed the border with Syrian and Iraqi refugees to Germany.
With the support of international human rights organizations, Yezidi organizations that document the genocide, mass graves, the disappearance of Yezidi women and children. The Federal Judicial Chamber in Karlsruhe in October, finished considering the appeal of a Syrian militant from the radical Islamist group Jabhat al-Nusra ("Victory Front". - Ed.), convicted in January 2020 by the Supreme Court of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart for involvement in the mass killings of supporters of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria.
According to the decision, the life sentence against the defendant is final. As established by the court, the defendant personally killed two people and was involved in 17 more murders. At the same time, the decision emphasizes the special gravity of the crime.
The Supreme Court of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart also handed down final sentences against three more militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra group. At least one of them is allegedly involved in mass killings in Syria. When reviewing the sentence imposed on him in Stuttgart in the form of eight and a half years in prison, the Federal Judicial Chamber did not find any legal errors. According to the testimony announced during the trial, in the spring of 2013, at least 19 police officers and government soldiers captured earlier during the battles for the city of Raqqa were killed in a garbage dump in the vicinity of the city of Tabqa in Syria. After the liberation of this area of Syria from Islamists, the militants who committed the crime under Tabka moved to Europe under the guise of refugees. They lived near Heidelberg, in Berlin, near Giessen and in Dusseldorf.
