Our editorial board has repeatedly written that the world community helps our people in one area or another. In this article, we want to discuss and emphasize the two most important aspects of assistance for our community. We want to highlight the priority types of assistance that are the main ones today – these are material, psychological. Before we proceed to the discussion of assistance, I would like to remind you readers that our future is in a foggy state. Despite the fact that after the 2014 event, the world community found out who the Yazidis were and began to help us. Unfortunately, we Yazidis cannot set the right priorities and decide what problem our community needs to solve.
Let's consider in order the help that we are currently receiving:
- Material assistance for Yazidis is mainly allocated in a one-time form, for example, to those Yazidis who live in camps. As we can see, this does not help them to get on their feet and return to their previous life. One-time payments, gives them only plans for the distant future. At the same time, the world community shows this to us as if they made a charity of the millennium. Yes, many people will now think that we should be grateful to them for this , but is this so, given that it is the world community that is to blame for the fact that small peoples like the Yazidis are on the verge of extinction. Not a few experts warned that this tragedy could happen in Syria in 2014. "After a fight , they don't wave their hands," this is what the world community is trying to do. When building schools or roads in Sinjar, if they had reacted to those warnings about the threat from ISIS in their infancy, they would not have had to pay one-time payments, exposing themselves as knights. Maybe my opinion is too cynical, but we will face the truth. It was the inaction on the part of the world powers that led us to the topic "what kind of help the Yazidis need".
- Psychological assistance is one of the most acute problems for the Yazidi community. It is difficult to imagine what a person went through, who had his relatives killed in an inhuman way in front of his eyes, and then they themselves were taken into sexual slavery. I'm sorry for such a comparison, but alas, this is the reality that our Yazidi sisters and brothers went through. Does this person need psychological help after this? After such events, the human psyche is destroyed, this adversely affects life and leads most often to suicide. All sorts of NGOs and NGOs from all over the world are trying to help such broken Yezidis with their own finances. Unfortunately, it is impossible to help everyone, or they do not have time, or there are not enough finances. Alas, even here the world powers are inactive.
What does it mean that we Yezidis are doomed? We have a rather precarious situation and the reason is that we strongly rely on others. We are waiting for help from every corner where we turn. The events of 2014 have made us more dependent on others. We have become more suspicious of each other and trust those who are partly to blame for our current situation more. Naturally, I do not call for marginalization , on the contrary, we need to gather our strength to look at our problems and not wait for initiatives from third parties , we should be initiators, as Nadia Murad's organization does. Nadia's initiative is the only organization that does not expect help, but demands it, because it understands that we are victims here because of the "unclean" policies of third parties. Should we think about whether to wait for help or demand it?
