The Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan, Masrour Barzani, approved the allocation of 180 million Iraqi dinars (approximately $ 123,000) as a special budget (co-financing) for the construction of the entrance gate to the main Yazidi temple of Lalesh.

The temple, located in the Sheikhan district of Dohuk province, is a cultural value and a place of pilgrimage for Yazidis.

A well-known Yazidi figure and adviser to the Prime Minister of Kurdistan, Sheikh Shamo, said in an interview that a specialized group led by a Yazidi engineer has developed a project that the authorities will start implementing in the near future.

Local Yezidis are working on the reconstruction of the Lalesh temple with the support and funding of the Yezidi diaspora abroad, foreign donors and the Kurdistan regional Government. Lalesh Temple is considered the holiest place for millions of Yazidis around the world.

The head of the reconstruction team, Khalid Narmo, said that the design of the temple was approved by the Yazidi religious Council.

The grave of Sheikh Adi ibn Musafir, the main saint of our religion, is located in the Lalesh Temple. Although most of the Yezidis have left their ancestral lands due to repeated acts of genocide, many of them still visit Lalesh at least once in their lives for pilgrimage.
