A few days ago, the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research of Iraq recognized Duhok Technical University, the university was granted accreditation and licenses. The University consists of eight technical institutes and six technical colleges, but the names of some institutes and colleges were not mentioned by the Ministry of Education, including the Sheikhan Institute, which is located in Sinjar, where the predominantly Yazidi population lives.

The Ministry recognized educational institutions: Dahuk College of Engineering Technology, Dahuk College of Administrative Technology, Acra College of Technology, Acra College of Information Technology.

Six technical institutes were recognized, these are: Technical Institute in Dahuk / Technical Administrative Institute in Dahuk / Technical Institute in Bardarash / Technical Institute in Akrah / Technical Institute in Amadiya / Technical Institute in Zahu.

Speaking about the non-recognition of institutes in Sinjar and Sheikhan, the official representative of Duhok Technical University reports: "Four colleges and six institutes have been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, but there are also two institutes and two colleges whose names are not mentioned by the Ministry of Education.

These institutions that have not been recognized, this is due to political problems. It turns out that the state does not want to give higher education to representatives of national minorities such as the Yazidis, this is discrimination. But we will continue to work, and we are all optimistic until they are recognized.

The fact that the institute is located in a disputed area also affected this issue."

It is worth noting that hundreds of students have graduated from Sinjar and Sheikhan Technical Institutes in recent years.
