The intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel of citizens of Georgia and Northern Macedonia has entered into force. This was announced on Twitter on Wednesday by the head of the North Macedonian Foreign Ministry, Buyar Osmani.
The agreement on the abolition of the visa regime signed by Northern Macedonia and Georgia entered into force today. The successful start of a new chapter in bilateral relations and a step towards further deepening cooperation in general," Osmani wrote.
His Georgian counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister David Zalkaliani stressed that the implementation of the agreement on visa-free travel brings cooperation between Georgia and Northern Macedonia to a new level.
"The agreement on visa-free regime between Georgia and Northern Macedonia has entered into force, which brings our cooperation to a new level and opens new doors for expanding ties between the two countries! Congratulations to Georgia and Northern Macedonia!", Zalkaliani wrote on Twitter.
The "Agreement on the waiver of visa obligations between the two republics" was signed in May this year during the official visit of Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to Skopje. At the same time, a "Memorandum of cooperation in the field of culture with the Republic of North Macedonia"was issued. According to Zurabishvili, both of these documents will serve to deepen cooperation in the field of tourism, culture and economy.
