Yesterday, a memorial ceremony for the victims of the Yazidi genocide, which has been going on for seven years, was held in the "Sultan Ezid" church in Tbilisi. In addition, a photo exhibition "on the memory of the victims of the genocide" was organized, where people could see footage of the tragedy faced by the Yazidi community of Iraq and Syria. The guests present, who are not indifferent to the fate of the Yazidi people, despite the pandemic, came to honor the memory of the victims of the atrocities of 2014 and laid flowers under the "frames of the genocide". Summer flowers symbolize the season of this tragedy.
The members of the spiritual Council honored the memory of the victims of the genocide with prayers for the repose of their souls.
The ceremony was attended by the media and various organizations, including our organization "The Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis ".
Recall that in 2014, on August 3, the Islamic State (the terrorist group ISIS) invaded Sinjar and Syria, attacked vulnerable regions where the Yazidi community lived, killing thousands, women and children were abducted and sold into slavery. And all these atrocities are still going on.
According to unofficial data, the statistics of the Yazidi genocide are given below:
- About 7,000 people received psychological and physical injuries
- Approximately 6,417 women and children were abducted
- More than 2000 people are currently missing
- More than 80 mass graves of Yazidis have been found

* It is difficult for international organizations to provide accurate information on the number of victims of the genocide due to the unstable situation and the pandemic.
