Yazidis of Armenia are always happy for their countrymen, who were able to become respected people far from their homeland. After all, thanks to these people, there is a very good opinion about the Yazidis among other Nations – as an honest, hard-working, talented people.

One of them is the native village of Griboedov (formerly Echmiadzin district, and now the Armavir region) recently published a material "the don newspaper" which is published in the town of Donskoy, Tula region. The article Yulia Gateway is called "Rostam Amadan: neinastran alien»

Ezid Rostam Hamadan and approximately 500 people of the Yezidis, settling with their families in the city of Donskoy, Tula region, become worthy citizens of Russia. But they do not forget their English roots and their culture and traditions.

Here is the material about this man and his love for his Yazidi people completely: Perhaps, this is how the hero of this article can be called – a citizen of Russia, Donetsk citizen Rostam Amadyan – Yazid by blood, who was born and lived in Armenia for more than 30 years.

When the question arises: "Who are Yazidis?"at best, people will say that they have something to do with the sun. And because of their Armenian surnames, we think that they are Armenians, only with a different religion! In fact, the Yezidis are one of the oldest peoples on earth, with its original history, religion and culture.

Rostam was born in Echmiadzin district, in the village of Griboyedov in a family of peasants, graduated from the decade and went to the army, as befits every self-respecting man. The guy served in the Moscow region in the Odintsovo district. Rostam still remembers those days with a touch of nostalgia, because then the Union was United, and everyone felt their involvement in this unity.

However, Moscow and St. Petersburg, he saw while still a schoolboy – their entire class went on excursions in the summer holidays. Then the kid sincerely impressed and the ancient temples and wonderful monuments, and metro, which wanted to ride forever.

After the army, he entered the Yerevan irrigation and drainage College for accounting, then worked as a foreman at the construction site. Everything went well and personal life – Rostam married the beautiful girl Hanusa, who gave him three daughters and a son.

The collapse of the Union brought new challenges to the Yazidis: Armenia began to have problems with Azerbaijan, and after them - the fighting. A lot of misery brought by the strongest earthquake in 1988. And it was necessary to seek refuge and a quiet life for themselves and their children - already in post-Soviet Russia.

In don family Amadyan moved in 1994. Rostam, who knew the Russian language well, after some time became an Armenian translator, organized a peasant farm in parallel.

- At us the relative worked at that time in militia, here also called us here to live. Then other families moved, and now about five hundred people live in the city. Although there are still friends and relatives in Armenia.

Their religion Yazidis carried through all the historical cataclysms almost intact. And, of course, as many have guessed, the main object of their worship - the heavenly body.

"The sun is everything," says Rostam Amadyan.  Everything comes from him.

And, of course, as in any religion, Yazidis have a lot of holidays. Among them are the three most important.

The holiday of Ayd Ezid falls on a certain Friday of December. It is preceded by the strictest three-day fast - rye, when before sunset you cant eat, drink or smoke. And on Friday begins the actual festive festivities - ice. The February holiday, which is also preceded by a three-day rye, is the day of Hadr Nabi, the patron Saint of lovers (Yazidis compare it with Orthodox George the victorious, as he also rides a mythical horse). On the day of the celebration, young people eat salted cakes to see their beloved in a dream. The March holiday Kloc in the homes of Yazidis bake the pie - cake and lay down the coin. At sunrise, the mistress of the house cuts the cake, and who will get the money, that in the coming year will be good luck or wealth.

The Yazidis are there and the object of pilgrimage, located in Northern Iraq - Lalish nurani. Every Yazid must visit it at least once in his life.

"We haven't gone yet," Rostam says. – There is no time: agriculture is a difficult work that requires round-the-clock attention. But it is necessary, of course, to go.

It was nice to hear that the most favourite "civil" holiday of Rostam Is victory Day.

- Our children and grandsons, and I have eight of them, have to know at what price the world and our today's quiet life is won. The soldiers of the great Patriotic war was not separation of nationalities and ethnic groups in the Motherland shoulder to shoulder, fought everything. And it can't be forgotten, - he emphasized.

During the conversation, it became obvious that in addition to their customs, Yazidis simultaneously preserve the traditions of those with whom they lived side by side for a long time.- We have the same food as the Russians and Armenians - Solyanka, borsch, «shashlik», kebab, dolma, - said Rostam. – But we do not eat pork, like Muslims. Like Christians, we have one wife, but women wear headscarves or at least a headband, as in Islam, and eat at home at a separate table.

And that's what the Yazidi are exclusive, so is the caste system of society. For example, a priest can only be born in the family of a priest, to marry - only with a representative of the same caste. In each caste the spiritual leader has a Shrine - ojah, a small dish with a sacred text wrapped in a special cloth. Ojah, according to Yazidis, has medicinal properties: for example, heals mentally ill people. Rostam, by the way, has such a dish. And one more thing remains unchanged for centuries - the language.

- Yazidi language is very similar to Farsi - Persian, - tells Rostam. – Well, as Russian with Ukrainian. But the writing system has not survived, so they write in Russian in Yazidi letters - Cyrillic (only four letters added). We speak Armenian, we can read and write.»

We Russians can see how good it is when people carefully preserve their traditions and their Yazidi language, as well as perfectly know both Armenian and Russian languages, and become familiar with both Armenian and Russian culture through the example of Rostam Amadyan.
