Since ancient times, humanity has been passing on its heritage, its history, in every possible way. Music is one of the main sources through which people convey the story of their lives. Whether it was the dithyrambs of ancient Greece or even ballads from the Middle Ages, humanity could always convey history through the notes. We, the Yazidis, are not an exception to this phenomenon, among us are talented musicians who also want to leave a mark on the hearts of humanity with the help of musical compositions.

Every Yazidi knows about the tragic events of 2014, which happened to the Yazidis in Iraq/Syria. Many people from all over the world try to talk about this grief with the help of the press, government and non-governmental organizations, cinema, and music. It is on the music that I want to focus your attention. Exactly one year after this tragedy, the Peshmerga Choir, together with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dalshad Said, performed the "Shangal Symphony" at the Prague Municipal House. As it is easy to guess, the melody of this work talks about the outrages that took place in 2014 in Shangal, the pain that remains in the history of the Yazidi nation and humanity as a whole can be felt through the notes of the "Symphony about Shangal".
