Defining the safety and protecting the rights of the children of Nineveh

At a time when the use of child labor as begging has increased in Nineveh province, so has the exploitation and trafficking of orphans and homeless children, as well as the children of Yazidi refugees displaced in Nineveh province. As part of its project, the Tahrir Development Association has launched a program: "Addressing the worst forms of child labor among refugees and displaced persons in Iraq." The project is funded by the International Labour Organization.

The organizers held a training seminar on "Defining security and protecting the rights of children" in Mosul. The seminar was attended by a group of Yazidi youth activists, non-governmental organizations for the protection of human rights, and people interested in solving the problems of child labor and its exploitation.

The training included analysis of abuse and types of abuse, psychological and social stress, communication skills, physical abuse, and in some cases, sexual abuse of children, child trafficking.

It is worth noting that the Tahrir Development Association is an independent non-profit non-governmental organization that was established in May 2003 in the city of Mosul. Over the past years, the organization has worked to create many programs and activities aimed at spreading a culture of dialogue, a spirit of tolerance and building peace, creating concepts of democracy for a free and pluralistic Iraq that respects the rights and freedoms of citizens, by raising awareness of human rights. Increase civil and political participation of the population, especially the most vulnerable groups of society, such as women and young people in general.
