"The occupation of the territories of Georgia and Ukraine complicates the process of membership in NATO, but cannot stop it," Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of European Truth. The journalist asked whether membership in NATO is possible for Ukraine, given that part of its territory is occupied by Russia.

"Yes, because of this, the situation is difficult. And it is no accident that the conflict in eastern Ukraine began and Crimea was annexed – the same thing is happening in other states that seek to join NATO, I am primarily talking about Georgia. And this factor complicates the process. But he is not able to stop it," the Lithuanian president said.

Gitanas Nauseda also spoke in an interview about European integration, noting that the EU must remain firm and send a clear message to its partners, namely Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, to motivate them to move forward.
