The Girchi-More Freedom party, together with representatives of the Georgian business sector, demand to lift restrictions on the operation of hotels, restaurants and cafes imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At a press conference, representatives of small businesses said that thousands of people were left without means of subsistence after restrictions on work in the service sector were introduced on November 28.

"82 people were registered in our bar, who now receive only 200 lari a month as assistance from the state. Their families are behind them. In the same situation, the security service, distribution, which we used to pay. There is also rent which we cannot pay," — said the founder of the Tbilisi bar "Chelona" (Workshop) Ivane Machavariani. Due to government restrictions, restaurants and food facilities nationwide continue to operate only for delivery. The ban on walking and driving from nine to five in the morning remains in force.

Since November 28, 2020, winter resorts in Georgia have also stopped working: hotels are forbidden to receive visitors, and ski lifts and trails are closed, as well as cafes and restaurants.

Government representatives have not previously ruled out that winter resorts will be able to receive visitors from February 1, if there is a favorable epidemiological situation.

According to the founder of the "Ski Club" Guram Gogishvili, the government should make a decision on opening winter resorts as soon as possible.

"They should resolve this issue as soon as possible, in the very next few days. If the ski resorts do not open this year, many will remain hungry," Gogishvili said.
