Oil prices have been rising since November amid news of successful trials of a Western coronavirus vaccine and the results of the US presidential election. So, on Monday, the British company AstraZeneca announced that an interim analysis of its drug from COVID-19 showed an effectiveness of 70 to 90%. Earlier, successful trials of the vaccine were reported by German BioNTech and American Pfizer.

In March, oil prices fell sharply after the OPEC+ countries failed to agree on either changing the parameters of the agreement on reducing black gold production or extending it. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic triggered a record decline in demand for raw materials. In conditions when the movement of residents was restricted due to quarantine, and businesses were closed, interest in fuel fell sharply. As a result, in March alone, oil prices more than doubled.
