Yazidi refugees and displaced persons in the Vashokani camp, located in the town of al-twena, 12 km West of al-Hasaka, are suffering from a lack of basic infrastructure in the camp as winter sets in.

Abdul Razzak Sino, an IDP living in the camp, told the Ezdina website that problems with sewage and electricity inside the camp have not yet been resolved.

Sino added that the IDPs living in the camp need heaters and fuel, there are no winter clothes and nothing to cover themselves with in cold, frozen, damp beds, and there is very little food aid in the camp.

The Vashokani camp is home to 12,200 people from 1,890 displaced families from the town of Sere Kani / Ras al-Ayn and its countryside in 1,620 tents.

In turn, the Director of the Vashokani camp, Sitira Rashk, explains that the camp administration, in cooperation with humanitarian organizations, is working to provide basic services and construction materials for those displaced inside the camp.

The Director of the Rask camp admits that the services provided inside the camp are considered insufficient, especially since the camp is home to many displaced people, pointing out the lack of heaters, blankets, new tents and winter clothing.

Rashk added that they are in constant contact with international organizations to meet the needs of people in the camp during the winter.
