UNESCO intends to inscribe Lalesh temple on the World Heritage List

UNESCO in Iraq announced that work is underway to include several Iraqi areas on the World Heritage List, according to what was announced earlier that the Lalish Temple is among these areas.

Brendan Kassar, head of the Culture Department of the UNESCO in Iraq, revealed that “UNESCO is currently working on the inclusion of 12 Iraqi regions for nomination on the World Heritage List.”

The areas to be added to the list are “Amadiyah area, Lalish Temple, Nimrod, Nippur, the ancient city of Mosul, the ancient city of Nineveh, the Akhzar castle in Karbala, the Cemetery of Wadi al-Salam, the Dhu al-Kifl area and historical features on the Tigris River in Baghdad and al-Rasfa extending from the school. Al-Mustansiriya to the Abbasid Palace.

Recall that Shangal, Sinjar, Nineveh are the original Yezidi lands

UNESCO's attempts to add these areas to the World Heritage List continue, and this reveals the cultural and historical value of Iraq.
