Politicians and ordinary residents of Tbilisi who do not agree with the results of the October 31 parliamentary elections will meet US Secretary General Mike Pompeo with a silent protest action. This was stated by the leader of the opposition party "European Georgia" Gigi Ugulava.

The promotion will take place at 11:00 on November 18. Participants will line up along Rustaveli Avenue-from the Opera and ballet Theater to Melikishvili street. The protesters will hold placards with protest slogans, as well as flags of Georgia and the United States. In addition, they will be given stickers with the words "falsified", which they will have to stick on the asphalt.

According to Ugulava, large banners will be installed on the square of the First Republic, which will depict the flags of Georgia and the United States, inscriptions about election fraud and that " the Russian oligarch is trying to appropriate the state."

Technical issues related to the action were agreed today at a meeting of opposition leaders in the office of the Lelo party. Planning for the event continued throughout the week.

Mike Pompeo will arrive in Georgia on November 17 for a two-day visit. It is known that he will meet with Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II. In addition, the US Secretary of State is scheduled to hold talks with civil society activists and members of non-governmental organizations.

The opposition is boycotting the second round of parliamentary elections, accusing the authorities of falsifying the results of the October 31 vote. Earlier, opponents of the authorities expressed hope to also meet with Pompeo.
