The Jerusalem Post Newspaper published an article about extremist abuses against minorities in Syria, such as the Yazidi community and Christians, under the headline: "Rape, ethnic cleansing and looting: the UN uncovers the crimes of terrorist groups in Syria."

The article reads:

"The abuse was directed against women and children, and primarily against minorities such as Yazidis and Christians. Terrorist groups have committed several violations in Northern Syria in Afrin, Jarabulus, Idlib and tel Abyad over the past three years. The allegations have become widespread in recent years and are now part of the UN human rights Council's semi-annual report. The UN report discusses systematic looting, as well as the fact that members of terrorist groups go door - to - door in search of Yazidi residents-a practice that other extremist regimes, such as the Nazis, once did against minorities."

The only part of Syria today where people have more rights to freedom of expression and are generally free is Eastern Syria, where the US-backed Syrian democratic forces are present. It remains to be seen whether the UN report will lead to changes in Northern Syria. Evidence of abuse and ethnic cleansing is growing. Therefore, many regions of the world have been subjected to a new kind of authoritarianism in recent years, " the article says.
