The Supreme spiritual Council of Yazidis decided not to hold mass holidays this year. This is stated in a statement posted on the Council's Facebook page.

The reasons for this decision are "the current conditions facing the Yazidis and the region as a whole after the spread of the new coronavirus epidemic."

The statement said that "precautions have been taken to save the lives of our sons and daughters from this dangerous epidemic that has spread around the world. And in compliance with sanitary rules and preventive measures, limit its spread."

And the statement calls on the Yazidis, which says: "We urge all our dear sons and daughters not to come to the Lalish temple and gather between October 5 and October 15 to keep you safe."

The statement ends with a prayer and the words: "we call on the Great Creator (God)- and the Supreme angel (Malake Tawus) to stop this epidemic and restore security and stability in our homeland and around the world. And let all prisoners and refugees return to their homes alive and well."
