The Central election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, based on consultations with the parties involved in the election, developed and adopted by resolution the epidemiological Protocol of the voting day. This is reported by the CEC of Georgia.

They explained that the document defines the sanitary and hygienic rules under which voters must take part in elections and in accordance with which members of precinct election commissions and included parties must act.

"The health of voters and other participants in the electoral process is a top priority of the Central election Commission. That is why, at the initiative of the CEC, a special working group was created, which includes representatives of both the electoral administration and political parties, the civil sector and international organizations.

The document, developed in consultation with the parties involved, regulates the rules for entering, exiting, staying, moving in the voting room on election day, thermal screening, using a mask, and replacing an eligible person at a polling station with another person.

Before entering the polling station, both members of precinct election commissions and persons entitled to be present at the polling station will undergo thermal screening, process their hands in accordance with the established procedure, and put on masks. Members of the precinct election Commission will also be provided with protective shields and disposable gloves.

It is noteworthy that at the entrance to the voting building there will be a de-barrier, a solution for hand disinfection and information about measures to prevent the spread of the virus. The electoral administration will ensure that the frequent contact surfaces are properly disinfected and, if possible, that the polling stations are naturally ventilated.

It is important to note that the booths for secret voting will be arranged in such a way that sanitary and hygienic requirements are met as much as possible, and at the same time, the principle of secrecy of voting is not violated," the CEC reported.

The rules for the entrance of voters to the voting building are also defined.

"Voters will not undergo thermal screening, but must wear a protective mask. If they do not have a mask, it will be provided by the administration. After arriving at the polling station, the voter will have to remove the mask twice for a short time to identify and perform the procedures established by law. If the voter does not remove the mask, they will not be issued a ballot/ballots. Voters in the voting building will be provided with a pen for individual use. After voting, the voter will place the pen in a special container and leave the polling station in a timely manner, " the CEC said.

The relevant resolution on sanitary and hygienic rules at polling stations on a daily basis can be found on the CEC's website. A large-scale information campaign is planned to provide voters with detailed information.
