Georgia has increased the volume of micro grants for business
The business sector has suffered the most due to the economic crisis amid the pandemic, so the government's priority is primarily to help this sector.
Starting from October 5, Georgia will start issuing an increased amount of micro grants for business, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said.
Micro grants can be received by business representatives under the "Produce to Georgia" program. The maximum amount of the micro grant was up to 20 thousand gel.
"We have increased the program budget to 40 million lari, and increased the amount of funding from 20 thousand to 30 thousand. This will be a help for our citizens so that they can take the first step and start their own business, " Gakharia said.
According to him, to date, nine thousand people have already used the microgrant program.
"Produce in Georgia" is one of the most successful projects of the Georgian government aimed at stimulating local production in the country. The Agency combines all state programs aimed at promoting the business sector and economic development of the country. In order to help entrepreneurs in the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to expand the program.
We are talking about subsidizing loans and collateral that cover more than 200 types of activities, and micro-grants that cover more than 300 types of activities.
