Political parties in Georgia, including billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili's ruling Georgian dream and most of the opposition representatives [Power in unity Association»] agreed on standards of conduct during the 2020 parliamentary elections.

The code of conduct for political parties was developed with the mediation of the CEC of Georgia and the support of Switzerland, the US Agency for international development (USAID) and the international Republican Institute (IRI).

The document is a set of ethical standards. Compliance with the rules is voluntary, but the CEC calls on all political associations to join the document. The code should regulate the ethical component of the election campaign and prevent the possible replication of hate speech and xenophobia.

The parties that signed the document agree that:

• Will not use hate speech in the election campaign, will not make statements containing threats and xenophobia, and will not use violence;

* Manage financial resources transparently;

* Denounce the mobilization and skirmishes of their supporters at the events of their opponents;

• Will not use the administrative resource;

• They will not resort to fake information — "fake news" and use the so-called "bot network" for political or personal attacks on opponents in the electronic space;

• Will not monitor or monitor voters on election day;

• For prevention of the spread of coronavirus to comply with the recommendations of epidemiologists.

Parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held on October 31, 2020. 120 parliamentarians will be elected by party lists, 30 by majority districts.
