Director of the Tbilisi infectious diseases hospital Tengiz Tsertsvadze urges the population to remain calm and not to treat the coronavirus lightly.

According to Tsertsvadze, the growth trend of the coronavirus is observed all over the world, including in Georgia. However, compared to Europe and America, Georgia still has the lowest rate of virus spread per one million people.

"In the context of coronavirus, it is very difficult to give any guarantees, but we declare with full responsibility that we will try to maintain a very high recovery rate and a low mortality rate. The population can be calm about this, but this does not mean that it is necessary to ignore the introduced rules and not observe security measures. We must not relax, it is this extreme courage that has led us to a certain increase in infected people, " Tsertsvadze said.

At the same time, the epidemiologist noted that the death rate from coronavirus in Georgia is less than it was during the "swine flu" pandemic in 2009-2010.
