On February 21, the world celebrates the day of the native language. It was established by UNESCO in 2000 to protect linguistic and cultural diversity. For Yazidis in their countries of residence, this is particularly important – today it is time to talk not only about the past of their native language, but also about its future.

The success and preservation of Yazidis ' identity depends on language. Over the millennia, the Yazidi community has managed to preserve the Yazidi language and create conditions for the development of culture and religion.

Time does not stand still. And today, many Yazidis are talking about switching to the Latin alphabet, because only in the Latin alphabet they see the alphabet that will help consolidate and thus allow the Yazidi people to survive. This is not the first time that the alphabet has changed in the history of the Yazidi people, and it is connected with historical changes. The transition to the Latin alphabet also has its own deep historical logic. These are features of the modern technological environment, features of communications in the modern world, and features of the scientific and educational process in the XXI century. We can say directly that today the alphabet directly affects the competitiveness of the people, nation, and community. Today, more than ever, it is important for the Yazidi people, who are scattered throughout Europe and Central Asia, to be United in a single information field. This can be achieved by the implementation in all countries, the Yezidis living through education in the Latin alphabet. This will enable the Yazidi language and literature to flourish and develop.

The Yazidis of Asia write in the Arabic alphabet, the Yazidis of Armenia are educated in Cyrillic and Armenian alphabets, and the Yazidis of Europe and Turkey in Latin. This creates barriers that prevent the entire Yazidi people from developing. The unification of the alphabet makes it possible to consolidate and save the Yazidi people from assimilation, preserve the threads of culture, and write history in a single alphabet.
