The OSCE / ODIHR assessment mission, which is studying the pre-election situation in Georgia, met on August 5 with the Chairman of the legal Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament, Henri Ohanashvili, and the Chairman of the foreign relations Committee, Irakli Beraya. This was reported by the press service of the Parliament of Georgia.

The deputies informed the guests about the changes made to the Constitution and the electoral code and provided information about other issues of interest to the mission members. Ohanashvili and Beraya stressed that it is very important for the current government of Georgia to have as many international observers present at the elections as possible.

"For the Georgian dream, it is very important that the parliamentary elections in October be held in the most transparent, fair conditions, according to the highest standards of democracy. We will do our best to maintain close communication with foreign partners and international organizations. The purpose served and the meeting today", — told reporters after the meeting of Okhanashvili.

Following the visit to Georgia, the OSCE mission will prepare a report on the pre-election situation in Georgia and on the extent to which the recommendations of this international organization are taken into account in the electoral legislation and in the process of preparing for elections.
