115 thousand farmers received state subsidies in Georgia
In Georgia, 115 thousand farmers received subsidies from the state in the amount of 21 million lari under the state incentive program for landowners, according to the Ministry of environment and agriculture of Georgia.
This is one of the directions of the anti-crisis program to support agriculture, which is implemented by the government of Georgia in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, 106 thousand beneficiaries received discount cards from the state for 28 thousand tons of agrodiesel and, as stated in the Ministry of agriculture, saved more than 3 million lari.
As of July this year, 15,433 insurance policies were issued under the state agricultural insurance program, and the crop was insured for the amount of 140 million lari, which farmers expect from 15,000 hectares of land.
In the framework of preferential agro credit for the cultivation of annual crops 1528 issued loans to a total amount of 28 million lari. Under this program, the state will repay farmers interest on loans for the first 6 months.
More than 380 applications were received from farmers within the framework of the agricultural production assistance program, which has a budget of 10 million lari. More than 1000 applications were submitted by residents of the regions as part of the state program to promote the modernization of dairy production, the report says.
