The EU, the Ministry of environment and agriculture of Georgia and the food and agriculture organization of the United Nations have allocated 35 proportional grants totaling more than 2 million lari (about 0.5 million euros), which covers 40-75% of farmers ' initial investment in agricultural initiatives.

The grants were awarded as part of the second round of the application process during the third phase of the European neighbourhood Programme for agriculture and rural development (ENPARD III). The bid competition was held in support of food production in Georgia during the COVID-19 crisis.

Some grants have helped farmers install drip irrigation for vegetable production or purchase livestock equipment. Four large-scale initiatives funded by ENPARD III included equipping a dairy plant, a silo company, a new potato storage building, and a veterinary phage processing line. These investments are expected to have a catalytic effect, as they aim to address problems in specific value chains, which will also have a positive impact on small and medium-sized farmers.

Over the next three years, Georgian farmers will receive more than 18 million lari (about 5 million euros) in grants.
