Borek district (Yarmouk) is one of the residential areas inhabited by Yazidis, located in the North of mount Sinjar, where it was founded in 1975.

An area where many Yazidis lived in the Borek district and other settlements, as well as in many villages after the former Iraqi regime forced them to leave their ancestral villages and relocated them to other areas.

Here are the names of the villages from which the Yazidi minority was displaced by the previous regime of the Iraqi government: Rashid, Uldina, Ituni, Ausfa.

The number of local population before the genocide reached more than 30,000 (that is, before the ISIL attacks on Sinjar).

Local residents have suffered from water scarcity since its creation, and to this day. There are no water networks, and the population suffers from a lack of services. People are forced to buy water from mobile tanks.

As you know, the district was founded in 1975. This means that people have been buying water for more than 45 years and now in these hot days, as a citizen of the community, I assure you that every week we buy water for more than 18 thousand Iraqi dinars, and this amount is huge for poor families. All state organizations do not care about the poor population, and almost no one helps them. Neither the Governor nor members of the municipal Council are interested in solving this problem. International organizations are not aware of these problems of the Yazidi minority at all.

All investments are stolen and robbed, and poor citizens who are thirsty suffer from lack of water and helplessness.
