USAID launches $7 million educational program in Georgia

The US Agency for international development (USAID) is launching a large-scale basic education program in Georgia, for which the us side has allocated $ 7 million. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of education of Georgia.

The new program calls interactive learning its priority. Its goal is to develop literacy, as well as critical and mathematical thinking skills, to help students successfully address the challenges and challenges they will face throughout their lives.

At the same time, the program is aimed at absolutely all educational institutions in Georgia, including the primary level. It is also important that the USAID project will contribute to the ongoing education reform and implementation of the new school model.

On Wednesday, the initiative was discussed by US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, Director of the USAID mission in Georgia Peter Vibler, as well as the head of the Ministry of education of Georgia Mikhail Chkhenkeli.

Georgia is undergoing a large-scale and comprehensive education reform. Experts have prepared ten reform packages that cover all areas. It is planned to develop infrastructure, introduce innovations and technologies, and introduce a new model of University funding.

The reforms will last four years and will aim to turn Georgia into an educational center and make it a leader in the region. According to the Georgian office of USAID, the US government supports the reform, which gives Georgian youth the tools to promote democratic, social and economic development.
