The Iraqi Ministry of immigration will allocate two billion Iraqi dinars for the return of Yazidi refugees

The high Committee for assistance and support to displaced persons held its (150) session under the chairmanship of the Minister of immigration and displacement "Evan Faik Jabro" at the Ministry building in the capital Baghdad, in the presence of a member of the Yazidi house of representatives, Dr. Saeb Khadr.

During the meeting, the proposals presented by a number of interested parties were highlighted, in particular, obstacles to the return of internally displaced Yazidis to their places of origin, facilitating the work of the Committee by establishing control over the provision of assistance to those families, including those who remain in camps, and ensuring their necessary needs. Refugees and displaced persons are asked to return to their original places of residence.

During the meeting, the Minister stated that "the government's policy is to fully support the settlement and return of displaced families, especially Yazidi families, to their areas of origin by intensifying the efforts of the relevant ministries to restore life and stability in these areas and meet their basic needs".

"The Supreme Committee meeting decided to form follow - up committees of members of the Supreme Committee to monitor the implementation of the Committee's decisions and provide services, in addition to allocating two billion Iraqi dinars to Yazidis returning to their places of origin in the form of financial grants to encourage them to return," Jabro said.

The Minister added that "the meeting also called on the international community and organizations to support and facilitate the return of Yazidis to their places of origin and to agree to the registration of returnees directly from among the displaced Yazidis, as well as the distribution of grants and assistance to them by the Ministry of immigration and displaced persons for their return."

He added that "the meeting concluded with instructions to the ministries and relevant authorities, education, internal health, municipal trade, and joint management operations to provide services to the regions where Yazidis live, as well as coordination with the Kurdistan regional government to facilitate the return and entry of Yazidis to their areas of origin, and to make recommendations to the relevant authorities to continue providing the financial grant.
