Citizens who will be left without the assistance that is already registered in the state budget will receive assistance from this Fund.

The money raised on the Stopcov Fund account will go to help victims of the coronavirus or directly to fight the infection, said Deputy Finance Minister George Kakauridze.

The Stopcov Foundation was created in March this year on the initiative of the business Ombudsman. Later, many officials, including members of the Georgian Parliament, transferred a third of their salary for three months to this Fund.

"The budget explicitly States that we can use this Fund only for activities against the virus or to help citizens, and those citizens who will remain without the assistance that is already prescribed in the package and provided for in the budget will receive assistance from this Fund," Kakauridze told reporters.

According to Kakauridze, the Fund has already collected 133.5 million lari and no one will spend it yet.

The purpose of the Fund is to accumulate funds in order to distribute them point-by-point in the most problematic areas. First in the list of tasks is assistance to socially vulnerable segments of the population, those who need it most.
