The national tourism administration of Georgia has created an online map of hotels that have resumed operation subject to security measures.

There are currently 101 items in the list. Most hotels at this stage operate in Batumi-24.

All these hotels have successfully passed the inspections organized by the Ministry of internally displaced persons from the occupied territories, labor, health and social Affairs.

The Agency notes that the list of hotels will be updated from time to time. All new information will be reflected on the website and map of the tourism administration.

"Georgia resumes domestic and international tourism subject to mandatory recommendations, taking into account who standards and international norms. Appropriate recommendations and protocols have been created for the entire tourism industry (hotels, restaurants, transport, travel companies and guides). These standards serve to ensure the safety of both foreign visitors and the local population," the Ministry said.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all hotels in Georgia closed in mid-March. This happened even before the government declared a state of emergency. Taking into account the improving epidemiological situation, the authorities decided to cancel the state of emergency from may 23.

Hotels have been granted the right to reopen on June 8. To do this, they need to contact the Ministry of health and pass a special check.

Previously, the Department of inspection of labour conditions said that office was 939 hotels, of which 150 have already received the right to begin, 175 are unable to meet the requirements of remaining asked to move the test to better prepare for the inspection.

In an interview with Novosti-Georgia, the Chairman of the Federation of hotels and restaurants of Georgia, Shalva Alaverdashvili, said that now prices in almost all hotels in the country have significantly decreased compared to last year. He explained this situation by the lack of demand, noting that domestic tourists prefer to rent cottages or apartments.

As a reminder, domestic tourism has officially resumed in Georgia since June 15. According to the government's decision, from July 1, the borders will be opened to foreign tourists from countries where the epidemiological situation is about the same as in Georgia. At this stage, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Greece and the Baltic States are among them.
