Life of Yazidis in Armenia

(Short ethnographic essays on the life and life of Yazidis in Armenia)

The village of Aytakh is located in the Armavir province of the Republic of Armenia,

Dear resident of the village Kalash Ozmanyan noted that the village of Aytakh is mixed, Armenian-Yazidi, where 18 Yazidi families live.

According to Kalash Ozmanyan, the village of Aytakh was founded more than three centuries ago. Armenians and Yazidis settled in the thirties of the twentieth century. In Armenian language Into translates as "the Armenian quarter".

Residents of the village are mainly engaged in cattle breeding and growing seasonal vegetables in a greenhouse, partly residents work part-time abroad. At this time, the social situation is not satisfied. The Yazidi community does not feel aggrieved. Yazidis as full citizens of this country participate in all processes. Among the Yazidis of our village, there are people who have made a great contribution to the prosperity of the country. Yazidis, as everywhere else, control their own destiny, live freely, preserving national values and traditions, faith and language.

The Yazidis in this village have many capable children, many of them studying in higher educational institutions. However, the school does not teach the native Yazidi language. The Yazidi community speaks their native language among themselves.

The village cemetery is located on the territory of the neighboring village of Ferik. Initially, the location was chosen in Ferik. This decision was made by the ancestors of the village's Yazidi community. And in General, everyone is happy with this.
