Georgian foreign Ministry: all citizens of the country will return home in stages
The return of Georgian citizens from different countries to their homeland will be carried out in stages, foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said.
Since March 20, Georgia's air traffic with other countries has completely stopped. Flights are operated only by Georgian Airways, which will export Georgian citizens from foreign countries.
Since those who return to the country must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine on arrival, it is necessary to prepare the appropriate infrastructure.
"The situation is not easy, given that the dynamics of the spread of the virus in the world is growing rapidly. Based on this, we must also respond to the situation in an emergency mode. The situation is changing hourly, we must not make mistakes, " Zalkaliani told reporters.
According to him, the main concern is the safety of our society, our citizens and their health.
"We understand the situation of citizens abroad. Many are located in different European capitals and that they need to be gradually withdrawn. I emphasize-step by step, step by step, because our system and infrastructure need to be ready for the arrival of these people," Zalkaliani said.

The Minister noted that today the number of quarantine zones is sufficient.
Zalkaliani noted that embassies and consulates work around the clock, and information is constantly collected and processed. It is approved by agencies, the Ministry of health, the Ministry of economy and airlines. Careful flight planning is underway.
"Over the past two weeks, we have returned 3,000 of our citizens. None of the countries has yet carried out such a mass evacuation of its citizens, much more powerful countries have not been able to do this," the Minister said.
