The strategic location, the great economic potential and the steps taken to develop the economy lead to our absolutely realistic ambition to become a regional hub”, – President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said at the Georgia-Cyprus business forum in Tbilisi.

“Today we are hosting the first Georgian-Cyprus business forum, which is another step towards deepening the trade and economic ties between our countries. Georgia is on the European path, so with Cyprus, which is a member of the EU, strengthening partnership is our priority.  On the basis of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement, the EU has given us the opportunity to direct all our economic potential towards the main goal – integration with the EU. This agreement further deepens and strengthens the Georgia-Cyprus economic relations”, – Salome Zurabishvili said.

According to her, the trade agreement is one of the main documents that will strengthen the economic ties between Georgia and Cyprus.

“I hope that the forum will create a real basis for strengthening our partnership. The increased interest in Europe towards the Black Sea and Caucasus transport and logistical corridor is a new perspective for us and establishes a connection between the two coasts of the Black Sea. The strategic location, the great economic potential and the steps taken the economy development make a basis for our absolutely realistic ambition to become a regional hub. Therefore, we attach more importance to the development of modern transport and logistic infrastructure”, – Georgian President said.
